Recurring questions

How is your products generated?

Many of our products come through customer inquiries and their desire to find the right product for a particular feeding or health-related problem.

How is Chia de Gracia's product developed?

Many of our products are developed due to our needs from our customers. We are constantly looking for new research results on natural dieting for horses and dogs from different parts of the world, and carefully listen to the challenges that animal owners share with us. In this way we strive to respond to our customers' needs as well as possible.

Are Chia de Gracia products tested before being placed on sale?

All of our products are tested in a test group and adapted to the feedback we receive before launching.

The quality of all raw materials is analyzed to ensure that they are in good quality and safe to use. For example, salmonella should not be present in animal feed. Our suppliers' certifications (ISO 2200, ISO 14001, HACCP, Feed Chain Alliance (FCA), GACP) ensure that products are handled correctly and maintain good quality.

What is the functions of the herbal mixtures based on?

Many herbs act as natural drugs and the knowledge of their use is based on long-term knowledge, research and experience. Many drugs have come to us from the plant kingdom, such as, for example, aspirin.

Why are Chia de Gracia's products packed in bags?

In addition to well-being and good products, the environmental aspect is also important to us at CdG. Therefore, our products are always packed in bags instead of plastic jars or buckets. We were the first to introduce reclosable feed bags on the Finnish market.

The packaging of the feed has of great importance for its carbon footprint. When comparing the environmental impact of bags with plastic buckets, it can be noted that there are at least twice as many packed bags as buckets in a road radar.

If the packaging is empty, it will fit more than three times as many bags than buckets in a road radar. The amount of waste taken into account for the packing weight of our empty package will be about a tenth of what it would be if we used buckets! With small factions we can participate and influence!

Why should you fedd the horse or dog with natural feeds?

A natural horse feeding is based on plants, herbs, seeds, berries, trees and shrubs, lichens, algae etc. from nature. A horse striving freely in nature would eat up to several hundred different plant species, thus bringing in a very large variety of different nutrients. Today, the feeding of horses is largely based on  grown hay, as well as a few selected grains, which almost without exception need to be supplemented with different types of vitamins and trace elements to meet the body's absolute needs. Nowadays, the paddocs and fields are usually based on grassland. Even though the horses rarely get out of true nature, the versatility of the natural variety can nevertheless be partially compensated by adding different kinds of herbs, berries and parts of plants in the feeding. Herbs and plants enrich the modern horse's often unilateral diet, increase salivary secretion and support digestion.

Why should you give natural food and herbs to dogs?

Even a dog needs a versatile and nutritious diet. As carnivores, dogs may suffer from a lack of fibers, loose stomach or eczema. Nature's own herbs, plants and berries complement the dog's diet and support its well-being in a natural way. With dogs you should keep in mind that their digestion is quite short, so the nutrition lasts less time in the intestines than horses. Hard seeds should therefore be crushed so that the body can effectively absorb the important nutrients in them. Compared with plant eaters, the need for different nutrients, vitamins and minerals, for example, is different. Dogs like carnivores have stronger stomach acids than animals that eat herbal or mixed foods.

For dogs it is usually worth serving the herbs in the form of tea or decoction, where the herbs themselves are sifted. The decoction can be added directly to the other feed.
